Please join me at the Opening Reception for my Solo Show “All Things Cats” – a collection of artworks by me, Anne Gaines, featuring cats – my favorite animal.  I will be answering questions about my work (how I make reduction linocuts; why I like to create so many cat artworks; what inspires me to make art; and anything else you would like to know).

I have been making Reduction Linocuts for 29 years (yikes!), and Mixed Media Carvings for 7 years.  I started featuring cats in my work early on in my career as an artist (“Cats Dream in Color” was created in 1997, for example), and my customers responded so favorably (and I so enjoyed making the cat art), that I continue to include cats in a large percentage of my art.  When Carole at the Red Velvet Inn Gallery suggested a show with solely my cat art, it just made sense.  The show will have over 50 different linocuts and carvings of mine (all cats!)  I love explaining the reduction printmaking process, and I will be sharing this at the Show Opening.  I will also share how I started making carved linoleum wall art.  And, I have some cute anecdotes about what people have said to me about my art at shows, that you will not want to miss.  The Red Velvet Inn itself is a reason to stop by – it is a beautifully restored Victorian home and is becoming an incredibly popular place to stay in Navasota Texas.
