My work has branched off in a new direction: carved linoleum with India ink. I have started to carve blocks of linoleum (much as I would do to create a printing plate for my reduction linocuts), but instead of printing from them, I am painting them with pigmented India Ink by hand, and selling these as stand-alone works of art.
Carving linoleum is one of my most favorite things! I have been doing this for many years to create printing plates for my original prints. The sad thing is that people were not getting to see much of this aspect of my work.
With these carved linoleum with India ink creations, I make the cuts from my gouges create movement and texture within the artwork. And, the battleship gray linoleum makes the perfect backdrop for the brightly colored pigmented India ink.
